Why are you pursuing writing now?

I found that I desperately needed a creative outlet. I’ve tried many hobbies, but I always come back to this one. Writing brings me joy and makes life more fulfilling.

How do you come up with ideas for books?

I exist and my mind wanders on its own. Usually the best ideas come when I’m unable to sit and write anything down. In the car or shower are my mind’s personal favorites places to torment me.

Do you get writer’s block?

I ride the waves. When I don’t feel creative, I work on other aspects of self publishing or enjoy other books until I get in the groove again. The writing part does come easier to me, but I get editing blocks FREQUENTLY. Editing is so much work and takes some of the creativeness that I love away. I find it best to have at least one creative project working in tandem with a project in the editing phase.

Why are you self-publishing?

I did query for agents briefly and found it to be too much to juggle writing, editing, working full time, being a parent/wife, and maintaining my hobbies. Self-publishing opens the door for more creative and scheduling control which is appealing to me at this phase in my life.
